DELIA MAGDALENA OLAGUE
Delia was born on May 29, 1945 in San Jose, California and lived most of her life in the same city, in the same home. She passed away on May 27, 2025, two days short of her 80th birthday, surrounded by family and friends.
Delia attended Gardner Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and Abraham Lincoln High School in San Jose and maintained friendships she made in school for much of her life.
In 1965 Delia began working for Gardner Elementary until 1971, when she helped establish and run Delia's Furniture. She worked at Hewlett Packard from 1985 until 2004, and at Howell Electric for 20 years from 2004 until she retired in November of 2024. She loved work and everyone she worked with. Many of her colleagues adored her and felt they could depend on her for her compassion, eternal optimism and a good laugh. In fact, she would brag to her daughter about anytime she got a hug from one of the men in the office.
She loved to travel, dance, attend theatrical productions, go shopping, go out to lunch, and watch movies with her sisters, friends and cousins, as well as play board games with her family. Delia was a loving, kind, compassionate person who devoted herself to her family and friends, always thinking of others before herself. Indeed, many considered her a second mother. She had a strong faith in God and family that guided her throughout her life.
Her children fondly remember her wealth of love, smile and sacrifices for them. Many of their friends likewise remember her cooking and an open invitation to their home.
She was predeceased by her parents Domitila M. Olague and Concepcion F. Olague, as well as her sister Ana Maria D. Leon.
She is survived by her twin Guadalupe "Lupe" E. Chavarin and other sister Irene R. De Anda.; her three children Lorenzo, Sabina and Daniel; daughter-in-law Chelsea; and grandchildren Enzo (and his wife and her granddaughter-in-law, Maddy), Dominic, Sidney, Milo, and Olivia - all of whom miss her dearly.
